Marja Timmer (1966)

Marja Timmer has studied art-school in Kampen, the Netherlands. She also spent several years studying and training in a Zen Buddhist Center. This period has, and continues to greatly influence her style of painting and other forms of art work.
Marja expresses the philosophy of Zen Buddhism and her painting as:
"Opening myself to my surroundings. Whether it be nature or people. Everything that I am in connection with, can be an inspiration for my art work. I simply wait until it appears, the painting is almost 'happening by itself' Painting in this way shows me that artistic expression and spiritual manifestation can be the same".
Marja Timmer also creates sculptural pieces and cartoons and in 2008 she worked in collaboration with the designer José van Schie to produce a unique vegetarian cookbook.
